This cosplay has been the bane of my existence for the past two months!!! Last year I got sucked into the world of Dragon Age and fell in love with it! So being the wonderful person that I am I sucked my friends in along with me ^^.

I knew from the moment I saw Dragon Age I knew that I wanted to cosplay from it. It became a dream to cosplay Champion Mage Hawke because the design is so kick ass and playing as a mage in 2 just rules!!! Needless to say I thought it was just a dream cosplay, but the more my friends and I talked about cosplaying from it the more we began to believe we could.

Bioware has this sick sense of humor to add in the most miniscule details that make you want to rip your hair out, but with a lot of patience and group work days we all finished our stuff.

This was the first time for me to do an armored cosplay so that was a new experience. I have learned the ways of craft foam ^^

I have to say that the belt and the armor took the most time and effort. There was so much patterning on this cosplay that I went through half a journal making the different armor and belt patterns!!! It was worth it in the end. Thanks to sky for making the belt pattern! Every time I tried to make one it failed and since she made her Isabela pattern from scratch the belt was a sinch for her~

The belt and all the leather is made from actual leather from a pair of leather pants I bought from the thrift store. It was so much cheaper than going to tandy’s.

My staff was done in a total of 3 and ½ hours the day before I left for the con. I was not going to bother with it when I decided that I could do it O.o…I did but I want to remake it! The rod is a sanded down dowling rod that was stained, painted, and knocked with various tools to get battle marks into it. The blade is a carved our piece of insulation foam that was sealed and painted, while the end was made from clay and a painted Christmas ornament.

Thanks to aicosu for all of their tutorials, costume descriptions, and progress pictures that helped me through this entire cosplay!!!

My group entered the novice cosplay contest with our Dragon Age group consisting of Hawke, Isabela, and Merrill. We did not win anything, but it was a great experience. I was sentenced to the handler section because I had a very hard time moving around in all of the armor; and I can not explain how many people bumped, hit, or kicked my armor. Especially the boot tips. I have to do a ton of touch ups before I wear it again to another con.

I was given a ton of tips from some really sweet people that were also in the handler section. One guy even explained vacuum forming to me, which I am really excited to try!!! Thanks to everyone that made me feel less awkward and like I didn’t belong while we were waiting for the contest to begin!!! You were all amazing, I am so happy for everyone that participated and glad for those who won awards!!

Thanks you to everyone that stopped to talk to us it really made my day; as well as the contest announcer that was our biggest fan!!!!

If anyone has any questions on how I made any part of the cosplay do not hesitate to ask~

I’m really sad though cause most of the armor did not survive the ride back home T^T
I am having to remake almost all of it…

SHOULD I BE AFRAID OF WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS????

8D No seriously, you guys are so sweet. I end up playing favorites with someone every year, hahaha... I'm bad.

I'm so glad you had a wonderful time, and if you don't come back next year.......... I WILL CRY!

Yes you really should ^^ We are a scary bunch XP

You are not bad, its called human nature to play favorites. Only is it unfair when its not in my favor~ I kid I kid

I believe I will cry if we don’t as well. It was a nice change of pace from the same two conventions we have been going to for the past couple years now O.o
Besides we met some really nice people, the staff was wonderful, and what better excuse to go down to San Antonio (besides for Sea World)

Now I want to go to Sea World in cosplay. As if taking over the Riverwalk wasn't enough...
