Pokemon Collage

I had an absolute blast cosplaying Pokemon with my friends at this year A-kon 24!!!!!

We decided to make these cosplays for a skit that we performed at the cosplay contest. We did not win anything, but we had such a blast performing! We had a wonderful time talking with the other contestants and just having a grand time!!! I was so happy to finally see this skit come to fruition after coming up with the idea a few years ago with my brother!

I don’t really like uploading hall pictures, but I really love these shots. We were honored to take pictures and meet so many other amazing people in these cosplays! I loved talking with everyone that took time out of their con to be nerds with us!! You all made our A-kon special!!!

This reaffirmed why I go to conventions and cosplay. Even though I did not have the best of time at this convention because of some rude staff, the layout, and the sexual harassment (I, nor any of my friends were victims of this but other con goers were) I cannot wait to wear these again at San Japan!!! Hopefully I will meet some of you lovely people again! If you recognize us come say hi, talking with other people that share in our nerdyness is why we go to conventions!!!

Onto cosplay construction~

I assumed that this would be a really easy costume, as always I was wrong. It was in no way as difficult as other, but nothing goes a smoothly as planned right? The pattern I used had to be heavily altered because it was just weird!!!

I originally made nurse shoes, but they were way too narrow for my feet and I could not wear them around the convention! For the short time I wore them I destroyed my feet!!!! I came home and had bruised my toes, cut my heels, and earned some really nasty blister on my toes and on the balls of my feet!!! So lesson learned; NEVER WEAR SHOES THAT DON’T FIT PROPERLY TO CONVENTIONS!!!!! I cannot stress this enough, do NOT jeopardize your feet for a cosplay, it did not help that we had to walk out to my car several times to get skit stuff since it was parked forever and a day away!!! Thankfully I had brought white shoes for to borrow on Sunday that I ended up wearing all day!

The wig was my favorite part of this costume (and why I chose Nurse Joy). It was also my first time styling an intricate wig for myself (along with doing anything like this)!!!
I bought an Inigo and a long pony tail clip in Rose Pink from Arda wigs to start this project. The hair loops were made from two pieces of chicken wire that was covered in packing tape. Then I covered them in an initial layer of fibers from the ponytail. After both sides of the loops were covered I molded them into the shape I wanted and then started layering more wig fibers onto them until I reached the desired thickness. (All of the fibers were attached with tacky glue and got2b hairspray.) My biggest problem with this wig was attaching the loops to the base wig. I ended up chopping my base wig then attaching the loops with zip ties. I sewed in two extra-long wefts above the loops and fed them through the wig so the zip ties could not be seen. This also allowed me to take the loops off later to do any touch ups that were needs!!! Suprisingly the wigs was not heavy. I barley noticed any extra weight from the loops.

I also made a Chansey to carry around with me! He is complete with the little hair/ear pieces, paws, and tail!!!! It was so much fun to walk around with my very own Clinic helper
